What It Is

HFE Assist (Iron Block Lite) pairs a 235 mg blend of R-lipoic acid, propionyl-L-carnitine, standardized flavonoids, and lactoferrin with 125 mg of BroccoRaphanin™ activated broccoli seed. Each single capsule delivers the full serving, in a DRcap® delayed-release format.

Key Benefits

  • Supplies R-lipoic acid in two forms, including Bio-Enhanced® stabilized R-lipoic acid from Na-RALA
  • Provides myricetin and baicalein, each standardized to 98%, alongside quercetin
  • Supplies lactoferrin, a milk-derived iron-binding protein
  • Provides propionyl-L-carnitine, an ester of the amino acid derivative carnitine
  • Includes BroccoRaphanin™ activated broccoli seed with both sulforaphane glucosinolate and myrosinase enzyme
  • Delivered in delayed-release capsules rather than standard capsules

How It Works

Lipoic acid exists as two mirror-image forms, R and S. Most alpha lipoic acid supplements supply a mixture of both. This formula uses the R form specifically, including a stabilized version derived from Na-RALA, the sodium salt of R-lipoic acid, under the Bio-Enhanced® name.

The broccoli ingredient lists two components together for a reason. Sulforaphane glucosinolate is the precursor compound, and myrosinase is the enzyme that converts it. Broccoli products that supply the precursor without the enzyme rely on gut bacteria to make that conversion; supplying both together is a deliberate formulation choice.

Two of the flavonoids are standardized to 98%: myricetin from Myrica rubra bark and baicalein from Scutellaria baicalensis root. A 98% standardization indicates a highly concentrated isolate rather than a whole-plant extract.

The capsules are DRcap®, a delayed-release format made from gellan and hypromellose.

Sourcing & Quality

Two flavonoids are standardized to 98% of their marker compounds, and the broccoli seed ingredient declares both its sulforaphane glucosinolate and myrosinase enzyme percentages. The lipoic acid is supplied as the R isomer rather than a racemic mixture. The capsule is DRcap®, a plant-derived delayed-release format, and other ingredients include Sunfiber®, a branded partially hydrolyzed guar gum. The formula is manufactured to GMP standards and is gluten-free.

This formula contains milk. Lactoferrin is a milk-derived protein. It is not suitable for anyone avoiding dairy, and it is not vegan or plant-based.

Warnings

Frequently Asked Questions

Does HFE Assist contain dairy?

Yes. The formula contains lactoferrin, which the Supplement Facts panel declares as milk derived. Milk is a major allergen, so this product is not suitable for anyone with a milk allergy or avoiding dairy, and it is not vegan or plant-based.

What is in HFE Assist (Iron Block Lite)?

Each capsule supplies a 235 mg proprietary blend and 125 mg of BroccoRaphanin activated broccoli. The blend contains R-lipoic acid as Bio-Enhanced, stabilized R-lipoic acid from Na-RALA, propionyl-L-carnitine, myricetin standardized to 98%, baicalein standardized to 98%, quercetin, and milk-derived lactoferrin. The broccoli ingredient supplies sulforaphane glucosinolate at 10% and myrosinase enzyme at 23%. The full panel is listed in the Supplement Facts above.

What form does it come in, and how many servings are in a bottle?

HFE Assist is supplied in DRcap delayed-release capsules. A bottle contains 90 capsules and the serving size is 1 capsule, so a bottle is 90 servings.

Why does the broccoli ingredient list an enzyme as well?

Sulforaphane glucosinolate is a precursor compound, and myrosinase is the enzyme that converts it into sulforaphane. Broccoli extracts that supply only the precursor depend on gut bacteria to make that conversion, which varies between people. This ingredient declares both, at 10% and 23% respectively.

What is the difference between R-lipoic acid and alpha lipoic acid?

Lipoic acid occurs as two mirror-image forms, R and S. Most alpha lipoic acid supplements contain a roughly equal mixture of both. This formula supplies the R form specifically, including a stabilized version made from Na-RALA, the sodium salt of R-lipoic acid.

What does “standardized to 98%” mean for the flavonoids?

Myricetin and baicalein are individual flavonoid compounds found in plants. A 98% standardization means the material is produced so that the named compound makes up 98% of it — effectively an isolate rather than a whole-plant extract. Here myricetin comes from Myrica rubra bark and baicalein from Scutellaria baicalensis root.

What are the other ingredients?

Sunfiber®, which is a partially hydrolyzed guar gum, and DRcap®, the delayed-release capsule made from gellan and hypromellose.
